I'll be speaking at West Point this Monday, March 7, as part of their creative writing forum. West Point Library, 7 p.m., Alexander Haig Room, 6th floor.
I'll leave my anecdotes of drinking beer and partying with sorority girls in college out of my speech, for the sake of the cadets in attendance.
Update, March 8: I really enjoyed the West Point reading - good turnout, beautiful library overlooking the Hudson River, and nuanced, thoughtful questions. I advised the cadets that as long as they're not social retards as platoon leaders, they'll find success. An English professor afterwards said he thought the cadets appreciated and understood my "respectful irreverence." I'm still bursting with pride about that one.

ReplyDeleteIf you have not been up to West Point before, it is a very pretty part of the state, and is of course historic. You might want to take City girl up there Sunday, and spend some time walking and driving around.

On purchasing "The Sandbox" off the library sale table it reminded me I had not read your book. The economy had hit me hard and I could'nt buy it. But I'll be dammed if the St Louis County
Library did'nt have not one but FOUR copies of Kaboom. Let's do sum syphrin. X amount of librarys at four books for each one. Thats alot of that fine tastin black beer!
So I read the "Kabboom". I enjoyed it thank you. But I was transported back in time a bit. Life moves so damn fast these days.

You may just make nutty proffesor yet. By the way...mavericks dont get tenured...but they do get alot of free rounds from the UGD's.
